Pawnee Rock – Samantha (Sami) C. Harter, age 16, passed away February 3, 2014 in Bellevue, TN. She was born in Overland Park, KS the daughter of Doug and Amy Mull Harter.
Sami, as most called her, was a vivacious, happy, fun-loving girl with a huge heart and kind spirit. She attended Central Kansas Christian Academy through eighth grade and since has been a student at Larned High School. She was a member of the school choir, Beginnings Musical Group, Forensics and was a cheerleader. She participated in the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, as well as an active 4-H member with some of her favorite projects being Shepherd’s lead, clothing, goats, and foods. She especially enjoyed the opportunities to bake with her mother. Sami’s biggest thrill was riding horses. She began riding at a young age and enjoyed training for English Saddle competitions. She was involved with a group that was working to restart a Livestock Skill-a-thon Team. Sami played the guitar, the piano and loved to sing. Her melodic voice could be heard almost anywhere she would go. She was Taylor Swift’s biggest fan.
Sami was a 10 year member of the Gem Dandys 4-H Club. She was very active in Pawnee County 4-H Day, taking several individual events to Regional Club Days. She participated at the Pawnee County Fair achieving many accomplishments including the Grand Champion Photography Exhibit in 2011. She was very involved in the Horse project, showing and receiving numerous awards. She particularly liked the English style showing. Sami held several offices in her 4-H Club throughout the years and was always willing to help younger 4-Hers and encourage them to try something new in order “To Make the Best Better”. She was a Pawnee County 4-H Foundation member since 2009, and was a junior leader in her club.
Survivors include her father, Doug Harter and brother, Chase Harter both of the home; grandmother Marilyn Harter, Bern; her great-grandfather, Keith Mull, Larned; Aunts, Jennifer Ladwig, (Walter), London, England; Stephanie Wineinger (Kevin), Tribune; Uncles, Stan Harter, Lander, WY; John Mull, (Kristy), Larned; and her cousins Kyler, Troy, Brooke, Ava, Walter, and Gabe.
She left for heaven with her mother, Amy Harter, and her grandparents Glenn and Elaine Mull. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Harter, and her great - grandparents, Marian Mull, Loren and Nadine Amerine.
Memorial Service will be 2pm Tuesday at the Assembly Of God Church, 601 Patton Road, Great Bend, Kansas with Pastors Roy Savage and Jay Beuoy presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned.
