Obituary

Hanston – Albert Earl Querbach, 91, died July 27, 2011, in Hanston.

He was born January 18, 1920, at Hanston, the son of William John and Ellen Jane Baldrey Querbach. He was a well-known and respected farmer/rancher who lived most of his life in the Hanston area except for in the mid 1920's when the family moved to Montrose, Colorado, where they lived until the early 1930's.

He belonged to the United Methodist Church, Hanston where he served as chairperson and was a member of many of the boards and committees. After enlisting in the Army Air Corp in 1943, he achieved the rank of Captain and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau and a member and officer of the Hanston VFW where he took part in numerous memorial services for deceased members. He served several terms on the Hodgeman County Extension Board, and was a scoutmaster for many years for the Hanston Boy Scouts of America including several trips to Philmont, New Mexico, for summer scouting events.

On May 23, 1943, he married Dorothy B. Fraser in Coffeyville. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert Querbach and wife Darlene, Salina and Edward Querbach, Topeka; many nieces and nephews including Joanne Eckert Whelchel, Dodge City, John Eckert, Hutchinson, Joe Querbach, Wichita and Joell Brock, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Laurence, John and William A; three sisters, Ellen Eckert, Charlotte Ames, and Isabelle Neyer.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with Pastor Dennis Fulton presiding. Friends may call from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Saturday and from 1p.m. to 8p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston.
