Hanston – Arlene A. Halling, 91, died September 18, 2012, at the Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.
She was born January 19, 1921, in Hanston, the daughter of George F. Jr. and Ruth Warnock Hertel. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a secretary for the Soil Conservation Office, retiring in 1997.
She belonged to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston.
On August 20, 1940, she married Frank Edward Halling in Kinsley. He died June 15, 1978.
Survivors include: two sons, Anthony, Ashdown, Arkansas, Eric, Hugoton; three daughters, Joyce Parrott, Henderson, Nevada, Brenda Salmans, Rose Hill, Cheryl Diederich, Lenora; twenty-one grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Albert Halling; a brother, Furlyn (Tuff) Hertel, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter.
Vigil will be at 7p.m. Thursday at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30a.m. Friday at the church, with Father Maurice Cummings presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 5p.m. Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Hanston.
