Americus - Arlene Ruth Nelson, 76, of Americus, Kansas, formerly of rural Jetmore, Kansas passed away June 7, 2009 at her daughter's home in rural Americus.


She was born July 23, 1932 at Sheldon, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd and Mabel Shaver Leininger. She married Wayne L. Nelson on May 21, 1950 at Sheldon, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1996. Arlene was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Americus, Kansas.


She is survived by two sons, Lee Nelson of Watonga, Oklahoma and Tim Nelson of Pratt, Kansas; two daughters, Julie Logan and Ramona Crisp, both of Americus, Kansas; two brothers, LaVerne Leininger of Sheldon, Missouri, and Wayne Leininger of Jerome, Idaho, one sister, Selma Sullivan, also of Jerome, Idaho, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Nelson, November 26, 1974.


Funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore, with Pastor John Crisp of the Grace Bible Church in Americus conducting the service. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to service time on Thursday at the Beckwith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
