Obituary

Arnella Pauline (Shores) Webb (87), born August 27,1938 in Labette County near Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away peacefully at the Hodgeman County Health Center on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication to her family and community.

Arnella spent her early years in eastern Kansas before moving with her parents to Jetmore, Kansas in 1952. She attended Hodgeman County Community High School in Jetmore, graduating in 1956. During her high school years, she worked at Heimer Grocery Store, where her future husband first noticed her. Thanks to encouragement from friends who made sure they both attended a roller-skating outing, their relationship blossomed. Arnella married Everett Eugene (Gene) Webb on December 30, 1958, at the United Presbyterian Church during a memorable snowstorm.

Arnella dedicated much of her life to serving her community. She worked part time at the courthouse for the Hodgeman County Superintendent and the Hodgeman County Soil Conservation Office. She later continued her service through part-time roles with the Hodgeman County Health Department and the Hodgeman County Extension Office.

Arnella and Gene made their home in Jetmore, Kansas where they spent their entire married life while raising their three children. Their family grew to include four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

A devoted member of the United Presbyterian Church, Arnella taught Sunday school and was active in United Presbyterian Women. She also performed many administrative tasks including ordering materials for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and preparing the weekly church bulletin.

She was a longtime member of the Homemakers FCE organization, joining in 1983. Through this grassroots volunteer network, she helped strengthen individuals, families, and the community through education, leadership, and service. Arnella always cherished her summers when her grandchildren would visit and help volunteer at the annual county fair, making cookies and selling snow cones. Arnella gave her time generously and participated in many community activities over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gleeola Shores, and her brother, Bert Shores.

Arnella is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Webb; her daughter, Donella and husband Tim Mack of Fort Worth, Texas; her son, David and his wife Debra Webb of Jetmore, Kansas; and her son, Darin Webb and Alfred Garofalo of Wichita, Kansas, and New York, New York.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy Clemens and her husband Steven of Fort Worth, Texas, along with their children, Riley and Alexis; Lee Webb and Jesse Walters of Denver, Colorado; Tyler Mack and Christian Witherspoon of Fort Worth, Texas; and Luke Webb of Garden City, Kansas.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the United Presbyterian Church in Jetmore with Pastor Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore with family present 5-7 p.m. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery, Jetmore, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church in Jetmore in care of Beckwith Funeral Home P.O. Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854. Personal Condolences may be left at www.beckwithfuneralhome.com.
