Obituary

Jetmore – Barbara J. Whipple, 84, passed away April 27, 2021 at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City, KS.

She was born April 17, 1937 in Ashland, the daughter of William Chester and Alice Louise Betschart Bailey.  A longtime area resident, she was a homemaker, mother and caregiver to many children and was a retired secretary for the Kinsley school district.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore. She enjoyed being involved with 4-H, where she also was a leader and was an outstanding seamstress.

On September 20, 1959, she married David E. Whipple in Jetmore.  He survives.

Other survivors include: son, Kyle D. (Valarie) Whipple, Scott City; two daughters, Davean L. (Jeff) Cramer, Kinsley, DaLena M. (Paul) Whipple-Miller, Wichita; brother, Bill Bailey, Medicine Lodge; four grandchildren, Teryl (Erika) Whipple, Kaytlin (Nick) Biel, Tanner Whipple, Tali Whipple and one great grandson, Harlan Sherrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kyleen J. Whipple and a brother, John Bailey.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore with Dr. Gary Winget and Rev. Mark Durham  presiding. Service will be viewable via facebook live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary .  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.  Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.

Memorials may be given to Hodgeman County 4-H in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
