Obituary

Salina - Betty Louise Base, 80, died Feb. 26, 2010, at her home in Salina.

She was born June 18, 1929, in Burdett Ks, the daughter of Lawrence Thomson and Arletta Rupright. A Salina resident since 1998, moving from Burdett, she was Transportation Superintendant at USD #496.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burdett and enjoyed bowling in Larned and in Salina.

On January 15, 1950, she married Norman Kenneth Freel in Burdett. He died in 1968. On July 20, 1972, she married Daniel J. Base in Pawnee Rock. He died on July 31, 1997.

Survivors include; A son, Kenny Freel; a daughter Donna Boese, Salina; three step-sons Jerry Base, Smolan, Don Base, Ellsworth, Darrell Base, Cimmeron; two step daughters Barbara Kroupa, Marion, Sharon Base, DodgeCity; twenty three grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, two sons, Lonny Freel and wife Pearl Ann, and Bob Freel and wife Patricia Daniels, and two sisters Frances Stanford and Patricia Chaffin.

Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerrel presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
