Betty Jane Schartz, 72, passed away March 12, 2021 at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born December 24, 1948 in Wichita, the daughter of Cliff E. and Margaret Pauline "Polly" Simpson Bright.

A Larned resident since 1968, moving from Wichita, she was of the Christian faith. She was a detention officer and enjoyed sewing, playing piano, and spending time with her family.

On June 14, 1968 she married Gregory Lynn Schartz at Larned; he survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Alexis (David) Williams, Burleson, Texas; a son, Scott (Lori Perez) Schartz, Larned; two sisters, Joann Bright, Newton, Patricia Scheer, Lafayette, Louisiana,; a brother, Charles "Bud" Bright, Divide, Colorado; and a granddaughter, Gabbie Williams, Burleson, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Greg Schartz.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Zook, with Pastor Jarred Smith presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary . Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
