Brenda K.
Johnson
May 16, 1957 – June 28, 2025
Brenda K. Johnson, a beloved resident of Lewis, passed away on June 28, 2025 at her home. Born on May 16, 1957, in Billings, Montana, she was the daughter of Darlene Clark and Virgil Ramsey.
A longtime area resident, Brenda moved from Jamestown to Lewis in 1990 where she worked as a Certified Med Aide at Medicalodge, and was an employee of Cross Manufacturing.
Brenda's passion was being outside where she was often found gardening, planting flowers, or mowing yards. She wasn't afraid of dirty hands or hard work. When she wasn't outside she could be found at area antique stores looking for the next hidden treasure that her daughters would just laugh and roll their eyes at. She enjoyed collecting antiques, particularly cookie jars, old coins and anything in between.
In her younger years, while married to Don Johnson, Brenda shared her love for greyhound dog races, rescuing track dogs and hunting.
She was also an avid bowler, participating in the Wednesday night bowling league and even competing in state bowling tournaments. Brenda was also a certified EMTI and was part of the Lewis Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Brenda cherished her friendships with the elderly in the Lewis community. She loved visiting with folks down on main and stopping at the bank. She also took great pride in her three girls, often times telling others just how proud she was of them. Her girls remember how much Brenda loved Christmas time when she could decorate her entire house with lights and outdoor decorations.
On December 23, 1975, Brenda married Don Johnson. They divorced in 1997 but remained friends until her death. Don Johnson survives Brenda. Other survivors include her children, Greg Moessinger of Wrightsville, PA, Jennifer (Chris) Leon of Olathe, Sandra (Kevin) Blevins of Lewis, and Amy Turner of Kinsley. Her siblings include Jonnie Vancil of Metzger, OR, Elizabeth "Becky" Hawkins of Garfield, and Alice (Craig) Swanson of Lincoln City, OR. She also has five grandchildren: Kaitelyn (Jordan) Welch, Kiley Blevins, Ava and Max Leon, Carver Springer, and two great grandchildren: Stetson and Wrenley Welch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother John Handel, and a sister Valerie Sue Kreb Burdan.

Friends may sign the register book 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday July 25th at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned with family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Wayne Cemetery, Lewis, Kansas.
