Burdett – Brett Eugene Hamby, 38, passed away November 21, 2016 near Great Bend, Kansas

He was born January 15, 1978 in Great Bend, the son of Rita Hamby. A longtime area resident, he was the owner/operator of Hamby Trucking LLC.

He was of the Baptist faith. He loved watching his boys play sports, working on vehicles, helping people, drag racing, spending time at the sand dunes, cooking, and riding motorcycles.

On December 22, 2000, he married Christi D. Sauer in Great Bend. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Dalton and Davin Hamby, both of the home; mother, Rita Orndoff, Ellinwood; sister, Megan Orndoff, Ellinwood; brother, Daniel Orndoff, Ellinwood; grandparents, June Stephens and Ron, Ellinwood; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Sandi Sauer, Rozel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Candi and Gabriel Polson, Rozel and two nieces, Micaela and Madison Polson, Rozel.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellis Hamby and Joe and Martha Sauer.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rozel Cemetery, with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. The casket will remain closed and friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
