Jetmore – C. Richard Smith, 82, passed away April 26, 2017 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City, Kansas.
He was born September 18, 1934 in Hodgeman County, the son of Carl R. and Grace E. Bell Smith. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder for many years. He was a charter member of the Jetmore Saddle Club, member of the Farm Bureau Board and 4-H Club, all of Jetmore. He also was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
On June 5, 1954, he married Frances I (Frankie) Bailey in Raton, New Mexico. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Alan Smith, Dodge City; two daughters, Richelle (Mike) Lee, Hanston, Susan (Randle) Tuxhorn, Dodge City; two sisters, Bessie Hermon, Claremore, OK, Joye Neeley, Owasso, OK; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie M. Smith, Raymond L. Smith and a great grandson, Corbin Chilton.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Rev. Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
