Larned – C. Linzie Williams, 80, died May 28, 2006 at the Larned Heath Care Center, Larned.
He was born October 20, 1925 at Larned, the son of John Norman and Lora V. Roberts Williams. A longtime Larned resident, he was a Power Plant Manager for the City of Larned.
He graduated from Larned High School and spent three years in the U.S. Navy during WW II. In 1946 he returned to Larned and went to work in the Larned Power Plant. In 1952 he became the Superintendent of all the City Utilities, from 1960 to 1966 he was the Manger of the Pratt Power Plant and from 1966 until 1987 he was Manager of the Power Production for Muscatine, Iowa.
He was member of the First Christian Church, Larned, where he served as Moderator of the board, Deacon, and Elder. He was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop #423 from 1952 to 1960. In 1959 and 1961 he served as President of the Kansas Association of Municipal Utilities, from 1980 until 1984 he sat on the board of
The Directors of American Public Power. He served six years as a City Councilman, was on the Larned Cemetery Board, Larned Power Plant Board, he drove and was past President for the Friendship Meals on Wheels, Larned, an Engineer of the Schnack Express miniature railroad, and was a caretaker for the Schnack Memorial Rose Garden.
On April 9, 1944, he married Betty Nan Hall at Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Charles Michael Williams, Westminister, Colorado, Richard Norman Williams, Omaha, Nebraska, Warner Kent Williams, El Dorado, Kansas; a daughter, Laurie Kristine Williams, Lakewood, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Marsha Carabetta, Mandy Anderson, Steven Williams, Becky Williams, Jennifer Tellinghuisen, Daniel Williams, Travis Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Cody Williams.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor Dan Lundgren, and the Rev. Johnny Augmon, presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
