Dodge City – Carl M. Carlson, 74, passed away April 25, 2018 at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born August 15, 1943 in Dodge City, KS, the son of John E. Sr. and Pauline Preston Carlson. The family lived many years south of Jetmore, KS and later moved to Dodge City, KS. He was a farmer and also did custom farming with his dad and brothers and had Carlson and Carlson Repair Shop at the farm. Recently, he moved from Dodge City, KS to Larned, KS.
Carl enjoyed family and friends coming for pheasant hunting season, was a true Ford and Case tractor man, listened to old country music and watched all of John Wayne's movies. Carl was the proud sole owner of the first 1964 1/2 black Ford Mustang, sold in Dodge City, KS, until he sold it to his nephew Joel, 53 years later.
He was of the Christian faith and also attended schools at Jetmore.
Survivors include: two sister-in-laws, Bonnie Carlson, Larned, KS, Jolene Carlson Bryant, Dodge City, KS; three nephews and one niece, Brett (Tammy) Carlson, Bison, KS, Shanda (Lupe) Perez Jr., Larned, KS, Dustin (Justine) Carlson, Dodge City, KS, Joel (Justine) Carlson, Frisco, TX; great nieces and nephews, Jessica Bonin, Austin, TX, Meghan Burton, Wichita, KS, Lauren Barron, Frisco, TX, Isiah Perez, Larned, KS, Amber Carlson, Dodge City, KS, Baylea Perez, Larned, KS, Preston Carlson, Bison, KS, Josef and Meadow Carlson, Frisco, TX, and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Jr. (2016) and Lynn Carlson (1975).
Funeral service will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, KS. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, KS.
