Burdett - Charles "Charlie" William Lynam, 86, died February 25, 2008 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned.
He was born July 12, 1921 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Oliver Wendell and Mary Louise Bacon Lynam. He grew up in Hodgeman County, Kansas and attended Hodgeman Rural Grade School #48. He graduated from Hanston High School in 1939. He attended Kansas State University for one and a half semesters, returning home to manage the farm after his father was called back into the service during WWII. He was a farmer-rancher. He moved to Burdett, Kansas in 1986 and continued to farm until August 2003.
He was a past member of the Hodgeman County Methodist Church, Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Livestock Association, Masonic Lodge at Jetmore, American National Cattlemen's Association, K-State "Steer-a-year" Club, the Board of Directors for Pawnee Irrigation Association, the steering committee for Pawnee Watershed, and a member of the Burdett United Methodist Church.
On May 9, 1948, he married Anna May "Ann" Marley at Larned, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include; two daughters, Linda and husband James Arnold, Scott City; Pat Stowe, Olathe; a son Earl Lynam, Burdett; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hanson, Overland Park, Aaron Arnold, Overland Park, and Rebeka Stowe, Olathe; a great-grandson Alexander Hanson, Overland Park.
He was preceded in death by one son; William "Bill" Wendell Lynam, Burdett.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28th at the Burdett United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rich Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Browns Grove Cemetery.
