Obituary

Burdett – Charles Elmer Selfridge, 79, died February 1, 2008, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

He was born October 28, 1928, in Larned, the son of Henry Ward and Clara Mae McDonald Selfridge. A longtime area resident, he was a farmer and stockman.

He belonged to the United Methodist Church, Past member of the Lions Club, both of Hanston, Hodgeman County Board member of the Soil Conservation Service for over 30 years. He was a longtime bowling league member, and a private pilot.

On October 3, 1948, he married Ina Mae Eakin in Burdett. She died July 17, 2005.

Survivors include: four sons, Randy Burdett, Tyler and wife Margaret, Burdett, Brad and wife Lynn, Olathe, and Wade and wife Debra, Hanston; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Claude Selfridge

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with the Rev's Marvin Ewertt and Roger Alford presiding. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Sunday and Monday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett.

Memorials may be sent to the Burdett EMS or Hanston United Methodist Church, both in care of the funeral home.
