Jetmore – Christine Helen Ewy, 88, died October 21, 2008, at Ness County Hospital, Ness City,
She was born September 28, 1920, in Moundridge, the daughter of Fredrick and Christina Brubacher Ortman. A lifetime area resident, she was a registered nurse. She served in 31 General Hospital U.S. Army in WWII.
She belonged to the Hanston Mennonite Church, Hanston.
On January 21, 1951, she married Weldon L. Ewy at Moundridge. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Doug, and wife Barb, Hanston; a daughter, Barbara Gibbs, Jetmore; a brother, Albert Ortman, Moundridge; a sister, Leah Toevs, McPherson; and two grandchildren, Robert Gibbs, Fort Stewart Georgia; Christie Gibbs, Greeley, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Edward and Roland; three sisters, Emma Lohrentz, Esther Wedel and Ruth Miller.
Funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the Hanston Mennonite Church, Hanston, with Rev. Carl Vincent presiding. Friends may call from 9a.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Hanston Mennonite Church Cemetery, Hanston.
