Obituary

Larned – Coleen K. Houser, 64, passed away October 4, 2017 at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

She was born February 19, 1953 in La Crosse, the daughter of George and Juanita Deighton Skelton. A lifetime area resident, she was a retired Mental Health Aid at the Larned State Hospital.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned. She enjoyed softball, volleyball and dancing. She loved holidays and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their activities. She also loved her dogs Max and Mater.

On October 8, 1971, she married Jon Houser in Larned. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Eric (Liliana) Houser, Larned, Corey (Stacy) Houser, Derby; two daughters, Pam (Kevin) Stapleton, Baldwin City, and Lisa Mead, Larned; sister, Sandra (David) Moore, Larned; seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Skelton and a grandson, Brayden Houser.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Pawnee County Humane Society in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
