Kinsley – David "Ron" Shepard, 64, died Nov. 2, 2007, at Via Christi St. Frances Hospital, Wichita. He was born July 25, 1943, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Jacob and Edith Bowman Shepard. A longtime area resident of Kinsley, he was a track welder for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a graduate of Chanute High School in 1961, attended Neosho Community College, graduating with an Associates Degree.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW, both of Kinsley. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air force.

On Oct. 4, 1969, he married Judy M. Fry at Abilene, Texas. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dustin and Fiancée Shelly, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Megan Gonzales and husband Albert, of Kinsley; and one grand-daughter, Kadence.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church, Kinsley, with Dr. Dennis Kuder presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley, with military graveside honors.
