Hays – DeVila Ann Meier, 83, passed away June 9, 2024 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born October 24, 1940 in Larned, the daughter of Foster Fox and Essa Mae Sohl Cochran.

A lifetime area resident, she was a food service supervisor at Larned State Hospital and past member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School. She was very strong in her faith, always encouraging others and guiding them towards their faith.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, and spending time with family, especially her great granddaughter.

On June 13, 1965 she married Frederick E. Meier Jr. at Larned; he survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Cristina Meier, Hays; brother, Jimmy Story, Kansas; sister, Donna (Oren) Blakely, Larned; granddaughter, Brittany Espinosa, Hays; great granddaughter, Luna; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Miles Story, and sister, Billie Miller.

A private family graveside was held.
