Dorothy Rae Ellis, 90, of Amarillo, Texas passed from this life on Friday, February 7, 2025.

Dorothy was born on June 4, 1934, in Rockdale, Texas, and grew up in San Antonio. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alma and William Moeller. A graduate of Harlandale High School in 1952, she worked at the National Bank of Commerce until she married Louis Sheldon Ellis on January 6, 1956. Together, they built a family and eventually settled in Amarillo, Texas. A devoted wife and loving mother, Dorothy dedicated herself to her community, actively volunteering at her children's schools, church and the Girl Scouts.

Dorothy was a creative spirit, she effortlessly mastered every arts and crafts trend that emerged. However, her greatest passion was acrylic painting, she was self taught with the guidance from Bob Ross on PBS television. Her singing voice was beautiful, bringing joy to everyone who heard it throughout her life. She was a devoted christian whose love for the Lord filled her heart and soul. She was a faithful member of the Southwest Church of Christ.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Lori Deal and husband Tom of Houston and Melanie Riley and husband Scott of Garland, four grandsons Caleb Riley, Keagan Riley, Connor Riley and Keller Deal and one granddaughter Kirby Griffin and husband Christopher and one great granddaughter Saoirse Roughneen Riley.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her sons Craig Ellis and Jeffery Ellis.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hickey presiding.  Burial will be in Brown's Grove Cemetery, Burdett, Kansas.
