Larned – Eldred Deverne Bruntzel, 90, passed away April 14, 2017 at Country Living of Larned.
He was born March 25, 1927, in LaCrosse, the son of Alfred Frederick and Mildred I. Ellis Bruntzel. He lived his early years in Rozel, moving to Ulysses in 1959 then moved back to Larned in 2011. He was an oil and gas Distributer for AMCO.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion, Masons and a lifetime member of the VFW. He served in the United States Navy, where he received the victory medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
On August 8, 1946, he married Rosalyn Wanita Umberger in Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Joyce Marie Klein, Salina, Jennifer Kay (Dr. Dennis) Kepka, Wilson; a sister, Sharon Price, Larned; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janell Rose Bruntzel and a sister, JoAnn Simmons Selzer.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Gene Price presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, with military graveside rites.
