Larned – Elizabeth A. Moore, 71, died April 8, 2009 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born January 31, 1938 in Kansas City, the daughter of Samuel L. and Thelma Caro Shepherd. A lifetime resident of Larned, she was a Supervisor in the Dietary Department at Larned State Hospital, after her retirement she was a loving childcare provider for many area children.
She was a member of the Escue Chapel, Red Hat Society, Black Heritage Club all of Larned. She was the Superintendent, Teacher and Lay Leader for Sunday School, a Stewardess, a Missionary, a Choir Member and a Trustee Board Member all of the Church
On June 3, 1954 she married Bishop Moore at Larned. He survives.
Other survivors include; two sons, Anthony Moore and wife Cheryl, Larned, Bishop Moore Jr. "B.J." and wife Lillian, Wichita,; a daughter, Cathy Jean Evans and husband George, Wichita; three brothers, John Shepherd, Larned, Bruce Shepherd, Wichita, Tom Shepherd, Larned; three sisters, Sammie Perkins Kitty Clark, Billie Broils, all of Larned; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Hill presiding. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
