Hanston – Elmer Lee Stinemetz, 90, passed away July 28, 2017 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore, KS.
He was born April 8, 1927 in Garden City, KS, the son of Cecil Wells and Cora Stephens Stinemetz. An area resident since 1958, he retired from farming in 1990.
He was a very loving, caring husband and father with deep faith in the Lord. He was very involved in his kid's sports and education, serving on the Hanston school board for six years. One of the many joys of his life were loving on his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He attended the Faith Fellowship Church, Hanston, KS. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing and collecting clocks and camping trips with his sister Barbara and husband. He served in the United States Navy on the air craft carrier USS Roosevelt.
On June 13, 1948, he married Mary Elizabeth Anderson at Clifton, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Alan (Donna) Stinemetz, Hanston, KS, Randall (Janet) Stinemetz, Boxholm, IA, Cecil (Nona) Stinemetz, Urbandale, IA, Philip (Warene) Stinemetz, Olathe, KS; daughter, Carolyn (Loren) Youngers, LaVeta, CO; sister, Barbara Steiner, Dallas, TX; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Miller; two sisters, Lois Stoll and Erville Bryan.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Fellowship Church, Hanston, KS, with Pastor Doug Ellison presiding. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in Brown's Grove Cemetery, Burdett, KS, with military graveside rites.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Operation Heal Our Patriots-Samaritan's Purse, Faith Fellowship Church or Hodgeman County Health Center in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
