July 10, 1950 – June 5, 2024
Elvin Lee Towery, 73, passed away June 5, 2024 at Salina Regional Hospital, Salina, Kansas.
He was born July 10, 1950 in Norton, the son of Loren Lee and Clara Bardwell Towery. A longtime area resident, he was a MHDDT at Larned State Hospital, where he retired from after 26 ½ years.
Elvin was a welder foreman at New Age Industry from 1976-1988, most recently worked for Corp of Engineers at Kanapolis Lake as a camp custodian. He enjoyed boating, camping, traveling, working on lawn mowers, going to Steak and Taco nights at the American Legion, attending concerts, eagle watching with Mary Ann and loved watching westerns and telling "dad" jokes.
On November 22, 1969 he married MaryAnn Szymanski; she passed away August 31, 2018.
Survivors include; three sons, Scott (Sheyanna) Towery, Larned, Jeff (Sharon) Towery, Larned, David Towery, Almena; a daughter Wendy (Brad) Bagby, Larned; five brothers, Eldon (Diane) Towery, Almena, Dale (Diane) Towery, New York, Mike Towery, McCook, Nebraska, Terry (Brenda) Towery, Kearney, Nebraska and Bobby (Cherie) Towery, Parker, Colorado; three sisters, Patty Walker, Virginia, Cathy Helwick, Hastings, Nebraska and Linda (Cindy) Wilder-Towery, Topeka; Brother in law, Tim (Sandy) Towery, Jefferson City, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; his parents, his wife MaryAnn Towery, two brothers, Ron Towery and Gary Towery and a granddaughter, Courtney Thorne.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Bo Rouse presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11th at the mortuary, with family present from 4-6 p.m.
