Larned – Emily Margaret Koerner Dannels, 90, died August 29, 2014 in Larned, Kansas. Emily was born April 18, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Margaret Habich Koerner. She lived with her husband George in Haysville for over 55 years and worked as a florist for Derby Floral.
Emily was active in St. Mary's Altar Society, Girl Scouts, and enjoyed sewing for RSVP, playing bridge and league bowling.
In Feb. she married George David Dannels in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Nebraska after George was discharged from the Navy in 1945. He passed away January 6, 1997.
Survivors include: four children, Jo-Anne Border and husband Jerry, Wichita, Susan Perez and husband Phillip, Larned Barbara Beeler, Kansas City, MO and David George Dannels and wife Nancy, Wichita; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Koerner.
Vigil will be at 7pm Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the El Paso Cemetery, Derby, KS, with Pastor Frances Rathbun presiding.
