Larned - Forest Cee Cephus, 65, passed away April 1, 2017 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
He was born August 14, 1951 in Smithville, Texas; the son of Jonah and Ruth Harris Cephus. A longtime area resident; he was the director of the drug and alcohol addiction program at the Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility.
He was of the Apostolic Faith and was an avid sports fan.
On January 26, 1990 he married Lois Shepherd in Dodge City, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include; three sons, Derrick Smith, Houston, Texas, Yumar Cephus, Winston Salem, North Carolina and Nathaniel Jones, Aurora, Colorado; a daughter, Tiffani (Matthew) Hines, Wichita; four sisters, Patricia Palmer, Linder Jamison, Kathy Jones and Dorothy Richardson and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifton Louis Cephus and Arthur Lee Cephus.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Elder Timothy Robinson presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas.
