Burdett - Freeda L. Smith, 95, died July 26, 2009 at the Rush County Nursing Home, LaCrosse.
She was born October 11, 1913 in Competition, Missouri. The daughter of Phillip E. and Myrtle I. Wood Carney. A lifetime area resident, she was a Homemaker and Mother.
On December 14, 1947 she married Vernon Wilbur Smith at Lewis. He survives.
Other survivors include; two sons, Tom and wife Ann, Garfield, Greg and wife Kim, Larned, two daughters; Diane Arnold and husband Bill, Shawnee, Gayla Lohfink and husband Rick, Holcomb, a brother, Gale Carney, Lewis, a sister, Bessie Sibley, Clay Center, and Eleven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by; five siblings.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Burdett, with the Rev. Rich Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial will be in the Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, Burdett, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
