Gary Wayne Schmidt, 69, passed away January 2, 2020 at his home in Burdett, KS.

He was born February 13, 1950 in Larned, KS, the son of Arnold and Roberta Martin Schmidt.  A longtime area resident, he was a farmer.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Greensburg, KS, and was on the city council in Burdett, KS.

August of 1999, he married Glenda Mason in Larned, KS.  She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Miranda (Kent) Schmidt, Pawnee Rock, KS and Lisa (Aaron) Koochel, Albert, KS; son, Steven (Amanda) Forward, Chickasha, OK;  brother, Randy (Tammy) Schmidt, Kinsley, KS; sister, Teresa (Pat) Arthur, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Kaitlynn Schmidt, Clayton Berni, Colton Schmidt, Dawson Forward, Kaya Forward and Bentlee Forward; nephew, Garrett Schmidt and a niece, Hannah Ramey.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, KS, with Father Mark Cowell presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
