Obituary

George Arnold Breshears, Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, in Wichita, KS, at the age of 77. Born on August 15, 1947, in Milan, TN, George lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the great outdoors.

George was a proud veteran, having served in the Army National Guard with distinction. His sense of duty was matched only by his work ethic, which was evident in his long and respected career at Chamberlain Featherlite. He later retired from Larned State Hospital, where he was known for his reliability and helpful nature.

Friends and family will remember George as an intelligent man, always ready with a clever solution or a creative idea. His hands were rarely still, as he channeled his handy skills into creating a beautiful life for those he loved. He found joy in the simplicity of nature, often going camping, fishing, and hunting. George's vegetable garden was a testament to his patience and ability to cultivate growth, both in the soil and in the hearts of those around him.

George's memory will be treasured by his loving and caring companion of twenty-four years, Phyllis Hagans, of the home; daughter, Ellen Wright and her husband David; grandchildren, Benjamin and Jorji; sisters, Jess Marcle and Betty Hendricks; brother Davey Breshears. He was predeceased by his son, George Jr.; his brother, Gary Breshears, Sr.; and his parents, George Henry Lee Breshears and Ollie Bell (Arnold) Breshears.

His absence will leave a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, creativity, and love for his family will continue to live on. George's life was a journey of joy, laughter, and the occasional fish tale – all shared generously with those he met.

As the sun sets on a life so well-lived, we bid farewell to George Arnold Breshears, Sr., a man who truly made the world a better place. Though he has cast his final line into the waters of time, his catch will be the memories that remain in our hearts forever.
