Obituary

Jetmore – George F. Turnbull Jr., 89, passed away September 12, 2014 at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Fort Dodge.

He was born March 6, 1925, at Stockton, the son of George and Ethel Miller Turnbull Sr. A longtime area resident, he was a farmer, an Insurance Agent and a Teacher.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion and was a Farm Bureau Agent, all of Jetmore and he served in the United States Air Corp.

On January 20, 1945, he married Muriel M. Grover in Big Springs, Texas. She passed away on February 20, 1981.

Survivors include: two daughters, Machle Martin, Westminister, Colorado and Marcia Giess and husband Rod, Arnold; two sons, Thomas Turnbull and wife Barb, Independence, Oregon and Scott Turnbull and Jenny, Rockwall, Texas; a sister, Wanda Bane, Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Martin, Shawn Giess and Chris Dreher and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Irvin, Earl, Lloyd, Fred and Jimmie Turnbull and three sisters, Amanda Wade, Minnie Campbell and Lola McClure and a grandson, Ronnie Martin.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Jetmore, with Pastor Rod McMillian presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery with military graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Legion or the Hodgeman County F.F.A. in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
