He was born May 12, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Leo A. Jr. and Mary Frances Oberle Hertach. In 2002 he retired from practicing law.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Kansas City, Missouri. He was a graduate of the Univ. of Kansas, 1968 and received his J.D. from KU in 1972.

On June 8, 1968 he married Mary Endres in Wichita, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughters Jennifer Lemus and husband Francisco Jr., Rebecca Stockton and husband John; a son, Justin Hertach and wife Kimberly all of Lawrence; and eight grandchildren, Jessica and Olivia Lemus, Brock and Cole Morris, Ava and Sophia Hertach, Rachael and Emma Stockton; a brother, Maurice Hertach and wife Jodi, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Jessica Paige Hertach and parents. Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
