Garfield – Gladys W. Peterson, 85, died January 5, 2007 at Edwards County Hospital, Kinsley.
She was born February 26, 1921 at Rozel, Kansas the daughter of Horace and Gertrude Reynolds Wheeler. A longtime area resident, she was a retired secretary at Larned State Hospital.
She was a member of Garfield Lutheran Church, Garfield.
On March 1, 1941 she married Carl A. Peterson at Wichita. He died November 21, 1997.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy Lopata, Debby Gore, both of Larned. Two sisters, Zorhayda Johns, Pima Arizona; Grace Thoman, Midland, Georgia; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister Louise Wheeler.
Funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Garfield Lutheran Church, Garfield, with Pastor Margaret Gary presiding. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday and Noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. The casket will be closed at the service. Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas.
