Obituary

Glenn Richard Ford, 88, died September 26, 2022 at his home in Jetmore. He was born January 22, 1934 in Dodge City, the son of Leonard and Rose Pizinger Ford. He attended country school south of Jetmore and graduated from Jetmore High School in 1951. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, Garden City Community College, St. Mary of the Plains College, Dodge City Community College, and received nursing certificates from the University of Kansas.

Richard was a lifelong aviation enthusiast. Earning his wings and designation as a Naval Aviator, he flew Lockheed P2V-5F maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft in the Far East and North Pacific. He later retired in 1994 from the Kansas Army National Guard serving as a medical section chief and Kansas State Marksmanship Coordinator.

He worked as an agronomy researcher, farmer, 6th grade teacher, machinist, mechanical engineer, registered nurse, family nurse practitioner, and as a tutor and instructor at Dodge City Community College.

Richard was a member of the Odd Fellows, National Rifle Association and was a past-president of the Kansas Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Jetmore; five children - Rikki Moore (Gene) of Greeley, Colorado, Sabrina Smith (Joe Mills) and Eric Ford (Lorna) of Jetmore, Sonja Chiappetti of Norfolk, Virginia, and Greta Chaar (Nathaniel) of Leavenworth; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lavern Ford.

Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2022 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore from 9 am- 8 pm. Family will be present from 4-8 pm. Pasture graveside services will be Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11 am, North 216 Road, Jetmore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Hodgeman Community Foundation in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
