Jetmore - Hans Martin Nielson Jr., 86, died December 28, 2009 at the Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.

He was born April 5, 1923 in Hodgeman County, the son of Hans and Mary F. Angelton Nielson. A longtime area resident, he was a hog farmer and a retired Coop truck driver.

He was of the Catholic faith, and a member of the Jetmore Senior Center. He served in the United States Army.

On November 15, 1947 he married Ethel Petterson in Spearville. She died May 18, 1974. On May 20, 1977 he married Gladys Krouse in Jetmore. She died July 13, 1987.

Survivors include: two stepdaughters, Sandra Smith, Jetmore and Shirley Woods, Kalvesta; two brothers, Lewis Nielson, Wichita, Robert Nielson, Jetmore; one sister, Annie Boren, Quitman, Texas; eight step grandchildren,four step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Josh, Vincent, and John.

Vigil service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jetmore. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church, with Father Ted Stoecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with military graveside rites.
