Larned – Harold Lloyd Burns, 93, died March 1, 2007 at the Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas.
He was born December 12, 1913 at San Francisco, California, the son of Harry S. and Nora Schaffer Burns. A lifetime resident of Larned, he was a teacher and principal for USD #495, Larned.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WW II, a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Life member of the VFW and the Tertulia Club, all of Larned, He taught at both Park and Phinney Schools, Larned.
On March 24, 1951 he married Mildred Irene Scott at Larned. She died February 3, 1991.
Survivors include: a step-son in law, Walter R. Stewart Sr., Huntington Beach, California; four grandchildren, Pamela Burnard, San Diego, California, Deborah I. Sherwood, Laguna Hills, California, Walter Stewart Jr. Orange, California, James Lloyd Stewart, Snohomish, Washington; and three great-grandchildren; and a 2nd cousin, Mark Burns, Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildreda Stewart; and a brother, Robert.
Memorial graveside service will be at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday at the Larned Cemetery with Rev. Ron Day presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and until noon Wednesday all at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Inurnment will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, with Military Honors provide by Ft. Riley Army Honor Guard.
