Obituary

Spearville – Harriet D. Housman, 78, passed away November 23, 2016, at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

She was born August 21, 1938 in Spearville, the daughter of Harry and Blanche Broomfield Speck. A lifetime area resident, David and Harriet were the restaurant owners and managers of the North Joint.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jetmore where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She loved all the holidays and decorating. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, playing games and putting puzzles together.

On December 15, 1956, she married David L. Housman in Clayton, N.M. He passed away December 8, 1994.

Survivors include: two sons, Randy (Debbie) Housman, Jetmore, Rick (Cindy) Housman, Dodge City; daughter, Rhonda (Chris) Zordel, Spearville; sister, Maxine Hamilton, Las Vegas, Nevada; ten grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Charles and Frank Speck and a sister, Peggy.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore, with Pastor Doug Ellison presiding. Private family burial will be at a later date.
