JETMORE-Hazel Francis Timken went to be with the Lord November 23, 2011, at The Good Samaritan Center, Hays.
She was born September 11, 1912, on the Ed Frizell ranch close to Fort Larned, the daughter of John and Lillie Miller Bird. They moved to the Frizell farm on the Pawnee River twelve miles northwest of Jetmore. She grew up there with her brothers; Floyd, John, and step-brother Harry. She was a tomboy and always talked of playing on the dam at the Frizell place, climbing trees and riding her pony. She told us she had to ride her horse to a one-room school and always said she had to ride up hill in the snow both ways.
She married Fred Timken August 29, 1929 at Elkhart, KS. After a honeymoon trip in a Model T car to Yellowstone Park, they set up home on the Pawnee River three miles west of where she grew up. She spent most of her life at this home.
She loved her life on the farm. She always had a lot of animals, and loved them all, especially her horse, Snoop.
Survivors include: A son, Mike Timken and wife Alice, Fresno, CA; a daughter-in-law, Doreen Timken, Hays; seven grandchildren, Brent Boger, Steve Beckerman, Kathy Beckerman, Kriss Moore and husband Karl, Susan Beckerman, Melissa Beckerman, and Darren Timken and wife shandel, and many great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, a son Fred, Jr., two daughters Shirley, and Carolyn; three brothers Floyd, John and Harry, and a granddaughter, DeeAnn.
