Obituary

Helen Arline Duran, 78, passed away January 29, 2025 at Stormont Vail Health, Topeka.

She was born August 12, 1946 in Missouri, the daughter of Marvin and Nina Paige Haynes. She moved from Topeka to Pratt in March 2008. She married Alvino Nicholas Duran in Topeka. He preceded her in death, April 20, 2017.

Helen was of the Christian Faith and was an LPN at nursing homes. She loved her grandchildren, gardening and her favorite plant was the cactus.

Survivors include: daughter, Debbie (Beaumont)Lowe, Pratt; three sons, Gary Dean Crosby, Medicine Lodge, John (Catharine) Crosby, Larned, and Dennis Crosby, Larned; sister, Nellie Johnson, Freemont, California; 6 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvino Nicholas Duran; sister, Viola Wright; two brothers, Marvin Haynes and Fred Haynes; and a great-grandson, Seth Newton Basler.

Memorial graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Spring Grove Cemetery, Anthony, KS with Kent Olds presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
