Larned - Jack D. Clock, 76, died November 3, 2008, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned, Kansas.
He was born January 6, 1932, in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Erwin A. and Dessa Leverington Clock. He moved to Larned in April of 1952 and began farming northwest of Larned. He soon included real estate and insurance to his life's work, eventually owning his own businesses as a licensed broker (GRI), insurance agent and a Certified General Appraiser (CGA). He was a volunteer for the Larned Fire Department for 42 years, retiring from the Department as Fire Chief in 2006.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #167, all of Larned, the Shriners, The Kansas Society of Farm Managers, and American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. Some of his other interests included renovating old homes, spending weekends on his boat at Wilson Lake and earning his pilots license so he could fly his own plane.
On October 28, 1951, he married Ardath Lorraine Gallagher in Stockton, Illinois. She survives.
Survivors include his wife, Larned; two sons Rick and wife Gay Lynn of Lawrence, Kansas, Kevin and wife Sharon of Westminster, Colorado; daughter Kyle and finance Scotty McWalter of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Dan Lundgren presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the mortuary, the casket will remain closed. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
