Jay Dee Schmidt's Obituary
Larned - Jay Dee Schmidt, 80, passed away July 28, 2017 at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born September 25, 1936 in Great Bend; the son of Dan Harry and Dauvina L. Smith Schmidt. A lifetime area resident; he was a custodian. He served in the United States Air Force.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion and was a part of the early early morning coffee group.
On September 5, 1960 he married Vera Mae Rohr at Ness City; she survives.
Other survivors include; two sons, Brad (Missy), Harrisonville, Missouri and Brian Schmidt, Miami, Florida; two daughters, Sonya (Oliver) Whetstone and Sherri Schmidt, both of Larned; a sister, Glendora (Glennie) Schmidt, Larned; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; a sister Norma Strobel.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Rosary and Vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in Pawnee Rock Cemetery with military graveside rites.
