Obituary

Hanston - Jeffrey Christopher Hahn, age 55, of Hanston, Kansas passed away in the afternoon of May 30, 2017.

Jeff, a lifelong resident of Hanston, was in an accident on an ATV while checking cattle in a pasture.

Jeff was born on March 11, 1962 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Dodge City, KS to Joseph and Alice Marie Pfeiffer Hahn. He earned a degree from Garden City Community College in 1982 and married his wife Kalen Marie Kersting on December 29, 1990 in Windthorst, KS. Jeff worked with his two brothers Joe D. Hahn and Jay Hahn on their family owned and operated farm. Jeff also worked with his wife on her family's farm. Jeff was a selfless hard-working man; he was a quiet type until you got to know him. He was always supporting the youth of the community and was a weekly attendee of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Hanston where he served as president of the council for several years and helped with religion classes for the youth. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Joseph and Alice Marie, one sister Monica Lea and two brothers-in-law, Anthony Hopp and John Nicholson.

He is survived by his best friend and wife, Kalen; two daughters, Caroline (David) Gladwin, Cordell, OK and Anna Hahn, Garden City, KS and one son, Chris Hahn, Norton, KS; two brothers, Joe (Charlotte) Hahn and Jay (Marcia) Hahn both of Hanston, KS; three sisters, Patricia Hopp, Duncanville, TX, Mary Louise (Ed) McCabe and Nancy (Jack) Kountz, both of Wichita, KS. Jeff had eight grandchildren whom he loved and cherished and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston, with a mass on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston, with Father Maurice Cummings presiding. Visitation will be Thursday 9 am to 8 pm and Friday 9 am to 5 pm at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will follow the service at St. Anthony Cemetery in Hanston.
