Jimmy Cornett was in the Air Force 4 years as a Jet Engine Mechanics as a mechanic.

He went to Kansas Law Enforcement Academy for 4 years. He was a Policeman in Fredonia Kansas for 5 years. Altogether he was in Law Enforcement for 20 years. He was an EMT, CPR Instructor, Doppler Radar Instructor, and a Sobriety Test Instructor. He moved to Arkansas in 1998. He was a Security Guard at College of the Ozarks for 12 years in Branson Missouri. He worked at Silver Dollar City in Branson Mo. as a Customer Relations and Specialized Maintenance. He worked at Ozark Scenic Tours, Branson Mo. He was a certified Coast Guard Captain. He drove "The Ducks" in Branson Mo and they called him "Captain Jimbo". He helped build the Keeter Building at the College of the Ozarks.

Jimmy Dean Cornett of Burdett Kansas died July 8, 2026. He was born in Independence Kansas to the late Wallace Raymond Cornett and Mary Maxine (Wenzl) Cornett. Jimmy was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Wallace and Mike and a grandson Everette Cornett. Jim loved the Lord and his children (son) Dwayne, his wife Ronae, (Daughter) Christine (Cornett) Allison and Husband Jeff, (Daughter) Veronica (Cornett) Featherstone and his stepchildren Chad Schmidt, Shannon Schmidt and wife Mary, Dusty Schmidt and wife Angel, Libbie (Schmidt) Landeck and husband David, Alisha Oetting and husband William. He classed them and his grandchildren and great grandchildren like his own. He loved them all. He had 5 sisters: Mary Ann Garner, Nancy Miller, Janet Ramsey, Dixie Yates, and Cindy Cornett.

He enjoyed serving his country and loved the flag. He loved reading the Bible. He also really liked helping other people. Every morning, he would read out loud "I am Washed by the Blood. I am Covered by the Blood. I am Saved by the Blood. I am Healed by the Blood. You Devil can't defeat the Blood."

His favorite verse was John 3:16. His favorite song was "How Great thy Art."

Jimmy and Sherry were married on June 3, 2016 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 10 years to Sherry (Burns) Cornett.

Memorial graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, Kansas with Pastor David Spare presiding. Military Honors provided by United States Air Force and Chester Hawkins American Legion Post 290. Family requests patriotic attire to be worn at the service.
