Larned - Joan Slagle was born on October 30, 1933, the second child of Ray and Ida Vogel.

Joan worked for approximately eighteen years as a Court Services Officer based out of Larned, Kansas, serving an area that covered six counties. Outside of her career, Joan loved to travel—she enjoyed going on cruises, taking snow‑skiing trips, and visiting family out of state. She also enjoyed reading, decorating her home, spending time with friends (often engaging in spirited discussions), and shopping.

On April 11, 1953, Joan married Marvin William Slagle in Ness City, Kansas. They were married for nearly 69 years before Marvin’s passing in 2022.

Joan is survived by her son, Roger Slagle of Larned; daughter Nancy (Miley) Mundwiler of Wichita; sister Patricia Rinker of Redding, CA; and grandchildren —Marie Mundwiler (James Schrader), Samantha Mundwiler, J.C. Slagle (Jacquelyn), and Tyler Slagle—six great‑grandchildren, and one great‑great‑granddaughter.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ida Vogel; her brothers, Thomas and Virgil Vogel; her husband, Marvin Slagle; and two grandchildren, Trey and Corey Coker.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no public funeral services.
