Larned - Joan McDowell Wright, 99, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Larned Kansas. She was born in Milford, Kansas on September 21, 1925. She was one of two daughters of Carlos and Josephine Randle McDowell. She graduated from Bixby High School, Bixby, Oklahoma in 1943 and from Kansas State University in 1948. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority at Kansas State University. She served as the Human Ecologist for Washington County and later Pratt County.

Surviving family members include daughter Beth and her husband Craig Chisholm, two grandsons Bryan Wright and Nolan Wright. Nolan's wife Haily and grandchild Quincy. She is also survived by a niece, Susan Mustard and nephews, Tom and John Mustard.

She was preceded in death by her sister Jean, her husband, Morgan, her son Wyatt, and daughter- in-law Pam.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Larned, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service and inurnment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City, Kansas at a later date.
