John Roy Van Cleave's Obituary
John Roy Van Cleave 99, passed away November 6, 2011 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
He was born August 11, 1912 in Toronto, the son of Roy C. and Nellie Stump Van Cleave. A Longtime area resident; he was a farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Larned, the W.P.A., the Master of Grange and the Fort Larned Lions Club president.
On July 15, 1934 he married Gertrude Unruh at Larned. She passed away February 14, 2005.
Survivors include; a son Ron and wife Alice, Larned; a daughter Janet Guthrie and husband Robert, Wichita; a sister Arlene Bigham, Wichita; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerrel presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Fort Larned Lions Club or the United Methodist church, Larned, both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
