Larned – Joyce L. Greathouse, 85, passed away June 7, 2017, at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born March 27, 1932, in Pueblo, CO, the daughter of Roy Lee and Mary Velma Curtsinger Swartz. A resident of Larned since 1953, she was a retired L.M.H.T. from Larned State Hospital.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Alter Society and V.F.W. Auxiliary Club, all of Larned.

On April 4, 1952, she married Charles (Chuck) E. Greathouse in Raton, New Mexico. He passed away May 27, 1992.

Survivors include: two sons, Roy (Deb) Greathouse, Cheyenne, WY, Jeffery (Elvia) Greathouse, Bloomington, IN; daughter, Dayna (Greg) Schmidt, Hays, KS; foster daughter, Ann Wilcox, Larned; brother, Harold Swartz, Pueblo, CO; two sisters, Sandra Fankhouser, Fort Worth, TX, Nancy Oder, Fort Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Trey Michael Desaire, Luke Schmidt, Ryann Greathouse, Jayden Greathouse and Landyn Greathouse.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Greathouse; foster daughter, Barbara Erway; foster son, Kerry Greathouse; two brothers, Roy L. and Bruce Warren Swartz and a sister, June Marcott.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
