Kalvesta – Joyce Reed, 77, died December 2, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospice, Garden City.

She was born June 6, 1936, at Dodge City, the daughter of Irvin Wesley and Daisy Ellen Pitts Hendrickson, she was a farm and ranch wife. She grew up in northwest Hodgeman County and graduated from Jetmore High School in 1954.

She belonged to the Kalvesta United Methodist Church, The Cheerful Workers Club, Pawnee Acres Community Club, and the Country Quilters, all of Kalvesta.

On November 27, 1954, she married Fredrick Chester Reed at Kalvesta. He passed away March 12, 2007.

Survivors include: a son, Roger Allan (Janet), Garden City; two daughters, Bonnie Sueann Molz, Garden City, Martha (Tim) Swank, Garden City; a brother, Samuel (Donna) Hendrickson, Jetmore; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wesley Morgan Hendrickson and a nephew, Irvin Wesley Hendrickson.

Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Cimarron, with Rev. Michael Keating presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
