Larned- Julius Dewayne Thornburg, 77, passed away February 9, 2017 at his home in Larned, KS.
He was born October 24, 1939 in Pawhuska, OK the son of Marion M. and Maxine Gunkel Thornburg. A lifetime area resident he was a Janitor.
He was of the Christian faith. He loved to tell stories, fishing, doing leather hand crafting and was a top chef for 15 years.
On September 28, 1985 he married Vickie Rakes in Minneola, Kansas. She survives.
Survivors include: three sons Clayton Thornburg, Kansas City, Missouri, Billy Thornburg, Aurora, Missouri and Robert Thornburg; One daughter Theresa; one stepson; one half brother, Harvey, Texas; one sister, Naomi Leacock, Colorado Springs, CO.; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; two brothers, Vince Brown and Cecil Shadbolt; one sister, Zola Jean.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Inurnment will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at Maple Grove West Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas.
