Karen Joy Dennis, 65, passed away September 13, 2025 at her home in Garfield.

She was born September 2, 1960 in Larned, the daughter of Basil and Ruby Katherine Allen Dennis Jr.

A longtime area resident, she also lived in St. Louis, Missouri for fifteen years. She was a hotel desk clerk, girl scout leader, member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe, enjoyed gardening, camping, sewing, crocheting, and time with her grandchildren.

On June 20, 1981 she married Dean McCrary at Larned and they divorced in 2001. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2022.

Survivors include: two sons, Aaron McCrary, St. Louis, Missouri, Andrew (Shanda) McCrary, Larned; daughter, Katherine (Duane) Obermiller, Larned; brother, David (Marc) Dennis, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Cheryl (Vern) Mulford, Topeka, Rhonda (Ron) Bettes, Grove, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 3-6 p.m. Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery.
