Obituary

Katherine Alberta Wilson Stegman, 100, died Sept. 7, 2015 in Wichita,
KS.

She was born and raised in Jetmore, living there for 91 years.
Her parents came to Hodgeman County from Illinois by covered wagon.
Born Jan. 15, 1915, she attended a one room schoolhouse, with her aunt, Maggie Haun Raser, as her teacher. Her uncle, Len Raser, took her to school on Horseback.

She was the Jetmore High School Valedictorian of 1932. Her father,
Judge Roscoe Wilson died unexpectedly in 1933. She attended college in Sterling and Winfield, leaving before graduation to come home and help support her mother.

She worked at the Farmers State Bank in Jetmore for more than 50
years, retiring as Vice President and Head Cashier. She married Melvin Stegman in Sept. 18, 1952. He died in 1962. She never remarried.

She loved Jetmore and was very involved in her community and church,
serving as City Treasurer and First Methodist church Treasurer for many years. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, and a member of the Methodist church for 88 years.

Traveling was something she enjoyed very much. She visited every
state and 55 foreign countries. She stood on the Great Wall of China,explored the Opera House in Sydney, Australia and sailed the canals of Venice, Italy.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Melvin Stegman; parents,
Dollie and Roscoe Wilson; siblings, Howard Wilson, Dorothy Hannah, and nephew Richard Wilson. Survivors include two nieces, Martha Kent, Overland Park, and Kathy Souter, Kechi and one Nephew Tom Hannah, Divide, CO.

Other nieces and nephews include Kelly Kent, North Kansas City, MO and Krista, Pat, Avery and Miles Allen, Overland Park, KS.; Jan and Kalee Hannah, Divide, CO; Brian and Alicia Wirtz; Woodland Park, CO; Emma and Bailey Hannah, Woodland Park, CO.; Roger, Matthew and Mollie Souter, Kechi; Tracie Souter (Stef) Klinke, Marietta, GA.; Jeff, Crystal and Jack Souter, Karissah Broughton and Breonna Willard, all of Rhode Island and Anita, Mark, Judy and Hunter Wilson, all of Florida.

Local arrangements are being handled by Beckwith Funeral Home,
Jetmore, with a service set for 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at Jetmore United Methodist Church.
